Time Restored

Clock Tower

The historical bell chime, a prototype to the bell installed in the Elizabeth Tower, has been restored. A quartz mechanism was installed some time ago. The battery running it has now been upgraded. The clock is once again telling the right time and chiming the hour.

However, the future of the building is once again uncertain following Oakman Group entering administration. Oakman were due to renovate Batchwood Hall into a hotel and restaurant. Read about Oakman Group on the BBC here.

St Albans City Council who own the Batchwood estate on behalf of the people of St Albans are looking for a new tenant.

Oakman also operated the Beech House in the city centre which has been taken over by Upham Inns
