Clearing the fallen and felled trees

The powerful combination of wind and rain has caused some trees to uproot and fall, and others to be unsafe, resulting in a team coming to fell them.

While the trunks remain on the ground, take a closer look and you will see some are hollow and others have become habit for other living things, like fungi.

Friends of Batchwood volunteers are working their way through the felled trees to create useable logs, posts and planks. As you can see from the bed of chainsaw ‘dust’ in the yard, Alan and Andrew have been busy.

The winds have also led to dead branches falling and some are left hanging within the tree. Please be careful when you are passing under trees in windy conditions. You cannot know when one of the resting branches will be dislodged and fall to ground.
