There are several paths that take you around the wood and golf course. Each is different in length, so choose what best fits you.
Some paths are used by horse-riders, cyclists, dog walkers and runners, so always be aware of what is around you. Please take care when crossing the golf course and driveway.
There are lots of places for children and dogs to run around but please keep them close when near to the golf course and driveway.
Purple Route

Terrain: Some uneven ground. Some small rises to walk up.
Starting at the information board take the path ahead. You will reach the small picnic area with benches you can return to later.
As you leave the picnic area turn left and following the path with the golf course through the trees on your right.
At the road, look right and cross over the path opposite. This has a small fairly steep climb and then turns left. Follow the path, passing the coppiced areas to your right where there are informal benches.
Follow the path around to your left and gently walk downhill with the iconic hole 7 fairway loved by children on snow days.
As you climb the other side you will enter an avenue of trees alongside the main car park.
When you reach the service road with buildings in front of you, turn left. After 20 metres you reach the main driveway. Turn right and progress to the small car park where you will find Batchwood Hall and the Sports Centre with a coffee shop.

Starting at the information board take the path ahead. You will reach the small picnic area with benches you can return to later.

Before you reach the service road with buildings in front of you, turn right and follow the path between two benches and a grass area sown with wildflowers. Stay left of the fence protecting the tee area of the golf course.
Cross over behind the tee and enter the Gorhambury Estate part of Batchwood. Immediately turn right and follow the uneven path out of the wood and alongside a wild grassy area. At the corner you will see a rough made bench with a view over to Gorhambury. Turn left and follow the footpath at the side of the field until you reach the signpost marking the footpath to taking you to the left of the field.
At the end of path and before crossing the driveway, pass through the hedge on your left and follow the path between the golf course and the driveway.
At the end of the path there is gap giving access to the golf course (jubilee trees). Follow the driveway up to Batchwood Hall staying to the side of the road because it is used by vehicles leaving Batchwood Estate.
After 50m you will arrive at a small car park where you will find Batchwood Hall and the Sports Centre with a coffee shop.

Terrain: Very uneven ground. Some gradual climbs. Not suitable for buggies or all terrain wheelchairs.

After approximately 100 metres there is a public right of way marked to your right. Follow this path alongside the golf course. You can walk to the left of the hedge alongside the fairway which is flatter but could be used by golfers. If you walk to the right of the hedge first through some developing trees and then alongside the field is more uneven ground.
At the end of the hedge carefully cross the golf course and join the public bridleway. This passes through a small copse of trees and then gently descends Take care crossing another fairway and when you reach the driveway turn right. In 20m you reach the edge of the wood.
Turn left and follow the pavement back up to the information board. Continue up the drive for 50m and you will arrive at a small car park where you will find Batchwood Hall and the Sports Centre with a coffee shop.
